Unit 11
Hackney
2012

A studio space for a textile designer; the unit needed to be versatile, robust and elegant.

The minimal palette of birch- faced plywood and epoxy resin paint complemented with the existing concrete elements and allowed the proposed interventions to read within the existing concrete and blockwork shell.

The constructed timber walls were lined with birch- faced plywood, as were the external walls and floor.  An insert of angled plywood boards on the floor and wall subtly played with the uniform plywood skin.
